Mr. Whiteside has created, organized and implemented a variety of documentation projects as a direct staff member, or as a consultant.  It is difficult to present a complete portfolio of these documents in the limited space provided, but the following are descriptions of various projects with which Mr. Whiteside has been associated.

ELECTRONIC, WEB-BASED

The following is a typical samples of electronic documentation that was prepared primarily for distribution via a Web-based environment.

  1. Public Portal Help Content

  2. Corporate Information Center (Aviation)
    This Web-based information portal was created to provide day-to-day instructions in an aviation environment.  In addition to operational procedures, there is also a section that addresses aviation problems, or flight disruptions.  You may click here to display an excerpt.

  3. Data Center Operations Procedures
    This Web-based document is used on a daily basis by the end users, and serves as a complete, functional reference for data center administrators. It also provides management with a reference document that ensures proper inter-departmental processes are in place and followed throughout the corporation.  You may click here to display an excerpt.

  4. Managed Services Procedures
    This is a Web-based document that was developed for a major managed services organization.  It serves as a centralized repository for all policies, procedures, and supporting documents associated with the day-to-day operations.  You may click here to display an excerpt.

HARD COPY

The following are typical samples of documents that were prepared primarily for distribution via printed hard copy.

  1. Application Deployment Process
    This procedure was prepared for a major US company and served as directions for deploying applications nationally via the company's client-server network.

  2. Requesting A Server
    This procedure, prepared for the same US company as number one above, provides specific steps for acquiring and implementing a server in the data center.  You may click here to display an excerpt.

  3. GL Reports Design Document
    This procedure, prepared for a major waste management facility, provides detailed technical specifications for reports that are derived from the General Ledger system.  You may click here to display an excerpt.

  4. Technical Description
    This procedure was prepared for Office Depot.  The assignment was to provide a technical overview of the order entry system, which included three levels of explanations: A. users, B. management, and C. technical personnel.  The sample represents a draft that was targeted for the technical personnel level.  You may click here to display an excerpt.

  5. Defining And Maintaining Items
    This procedure was prepared as a part of an overall Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution for ADT Security.  In addition to a reorganization of the ADT infrastructure, a major part of the entire effort was the implementation of a complete suite of Oracle applications.  This document is a sample of the Oracle courseware required for the training of personnel throughout the United States.  You may click here to display an excerpt.

  6. TPA Functional Specifications
    This procedure was prepared for AT&T Wireless as the initial functional requirements document for the enhancement of an existing system.  The system was used to calculate municipal taxes on cellular phone usage.  Mr. Whiteside lead the requirements gathering effort and coached the Business Analysts assigned to the project.  You may click here to display an excerpt.
